I feel it would have to be some new content plus having the game run at 4k 120FPS, so they can say "look here, a 4k 120FPS title!" and because anything less would be pretty embarrassing.
Something like a Luigi U style expansion would work, don't think it would be Luigi themed, but definitely in that vein. Probably a bunch of new wonder effects and hopefully actual boss fights.
