How can it be better when stealth and most augmentations are useless?

Somewhat, yeah. Deus Ex isn't really a stealth game, it's a secret agent game. It's not about getting a Ghost rating, it's just about slipping through when you can and shooting down the rest. Think more along the lines of James Bond, you know how he goes from sipping martinis and sneaking around to full-blown explosions and shootouts with everyone jumping everywhere.

That being said, the baton is pretty consistent if you bap them properly on the back of the head.

It's because Human Revolution suffers from generally weaker level layouts for missions, and the worse ones--or in some cases, just the worst segments--are frontloaded. Then there's the showcasing of the cover system in these sections, and the XP system that people felt funneled them into certain routes/playstyles, which further exacerbated the issue. As for Mankind Divided, it being half a game that Squenix rushed to market really just overshadows everything.

But otherwise yeah I'd totally say the Jensen games are better. Human Revolution specifically, due to actually being a finished game.

I've never done the training. You can do stealth if you want but it's not a game focused around stealth mechanics.
The stuff you have is gimmicky which makes it fun, with the pistol to bail you out.

Human Revolution is not a finished game wtf.

They cut entire hubs and the ending consisted of 'push buttons 1-3 for ending cutscene 1-3" because they ran out of time.

You can clobber most guards with the baton. Save your prod charges for the alerted or awkwardly positioned ones. DX has some wonky design in the early game but I will not tolerate slander against the prod and baton

Pro-Tips:
>if you want some bonus help, untrain your pistol skill and use the points to train others. it will automatically go back to Trained when the game begins (most patches anyway)
>pick the GEP Gun when Paul gives you an option, there's a dead guard with the crossbow and a patrolling guard you can knock out to get a sniper rifle, giving you all three weapons anyway
>enemies will not notice if you crouch-walk into their backs, so you have to press up against them and then smack their lower/mid back to do an instant KO or kill with a melee weapon (this is essential knowledge for stealth users!!!)
>the crossbow's tranq darts are meant to be fired from long range at a target and then, when the dart hits and the enemy aggros, you quickly duck behind cover and wait. in about 3-4 seconds the enemy will begin to run away in fear, then a few seconds later the enemy will fall unconscious. do NOT use it as some instant KO headshot machine...
>your visibility depends on the light or shadow you are in, and guards react based on the distance you are from them plus how long you have been in your direct line of sight. this is why guards always turn to face you, then aggro.

You can use prod and you find charges for it.
>but it's not enough
You don't have to neutralize every enemy on the level.

Then you can also use batons in combination with a pepper spray.
And then there's darts crossbow.
>but it doesn't knockout enemies right away
Yes, so you won't walk around shooting everyone left and right. You have to catch the right moment and make sure that no one is around your target.
But you'll get a sniper riffle later in the game.

Neither of those claims are true, though. Your augments are plenty useful and far more creative than Jensen's offering. What makes you think they're useless?
Stealth just the same is far from useless, but when it comes to takedowns you need to invest into the proper weapon skill to get oneshots. You know, like you would in an RPG.
People may talk about how the Jensen games have much less imaginative level design, but IMO the prequels' biggest failing is how much less interesting the writing is, since it goes a bit too on the nose with the aug livew matter. That and how it keeps throwing the myth of Icarus at you

game becomes very boring in late game anyway when you got all OP augs, better weapons and upgraded your skills. For me it happens as I reach Paris, I just stop caring about stealth or thinking who to shoot or not and it ruins the game for me because I have to make restrictions myself now. What makes it worse is that endgame has some of the best levels, Vandenberg and Ocean Lab, gas station mission, Paris Cathedral they all great but too fuckin easy at this point. IMO enemies and bots should've had another tier to them, MJ12 and MiB got easy right after Honk Kong. They need augs too or something.
I also wish ocean lab was bigger, man I had so much fun there because I fully upgraded my underwater breathing aug

Nta, but upper hengsha was supposed to be actual city with university, not a bunch of corridors and research rooms. You can turn on the commentary in Deus Ex: HR Director's Cut, they say a lot about removed stuff.

I started playing (again) recently.
I think that you need to play on Realistic, put some points on whatever is the Melee equivalent skill (at least make it "trained") and then hit enemies on the middle of their back with the baton when they are aren't alerted.

Secret technique incoming - wait for the enemy to be stationary. Baton to the head or prod in the ass, most will fall after one shot even with untrained melee. Baton can alert nearby guards, prod does not.

This is great though. Much better than giving xp for actions so you'reincentivized to hack every fucking door (instead of finding a code) and knock out every fucking guard

Yes, you can roleplay as an underequipped, underleveled secret agent. Remember, you're an experimental human-nanite hybrid fresh from the training. You can act as green as you feel like it.

It's a rather wide area and you only need to hit them with one of these things, the sleep darts take them down after a while.
