They keep the IP still and can do whatever they want with it all. Want to make a game for it? Fuck you, pay me. Want to make a movie? Fuck you, pay me. Etc.
They only thing better than having a bunch of high-value IP you're making content for, is sitting on a bunch of high-value IP and doing nothing with it until some suckers come along to pay you for a three-year license for it.
