>>714667219My flimsy headcanon, at least for the weight issue/presumed watercooling jacket on the barrel, is that it's a botched prototype for a relatively cheap/mass-produceable weapon specifically for powered armor soldiers. Here's my thoughts - a design that gives you a more standard pistol grip + the stock (in case the carbine has a rear spring like an AR), or one that apes the M1/M2 carbine.

>>714734225Easy to use and implement. You point at it to things and make holes into them. With swords and such you have options. You could make it simple stab or slash, which is pretty much the same as gun with really short range. Or you could make a flashy animation where your character bounces and makes all kinds of cool tricks but it's far less immersive, you press a button and animation happens. The third and most difficult option is to make your sword combat physics based and you get to actually swing the sword, but it's probably full of jank and is hard to learn, at least outside VR.

Also lsw and lmg are not the same, one is chambered in the same cartridge as the weapons used by the rest of the squad and is only operated by one person to make things easier on logistics. Light machine guns are usually chambered in a higher caliber and require 2-3 people to operate.

>>714761971> you get at the start of the game in D6I think you usually don't get to actually keep those - only on Ranger difficulties they appear in a guard post while you're escaping with Pavel, but on normal difficulties they're gone forever after you get captured.
Was always confused by that choice, you'd think it'd be the other way around and the hardcore difficulty would be the one stripping you of gear. I guess they wanted the normal difficulties to have a "normal" weapon progression (and avoid precisely situations like yours, where you pick an awesome gun at the start and trivialize most of the game's arsenal since nothing you find will be better), but thought the higher difficulty and ammo scarcity in Ranger mode would offset having an awesome gun? Not sure what they were thinking.
>>714765047Best part is that if you run out of dirty 5.45 ammo (which you will, because the ammo carry capacity is pitifully small) you can just switch to money ammo and blast away since you have nothing to spend money on.

>The Space-Age Piece of Shit
>>714734225All other answers are wrong. They're just talking about how guns are cool or even mistake guns being easy to implement.
Guns have the fundamental element of making the environment matter.
Melee, magic, even bows, they're all things in games in which you're typically at very close range attacking in an open space, and games focused around them don't get designed around map design that accounts for sightlines, cover, etc (and shooters with bad maps or pithy shooting are very quick duds).
As simple as "point and click" is on the input side, the tactical element of threats being anywhere from right around the corner to hundreds of meters away is vast compared to getting close and doing sword combo or throw fireball. It demands your senses to be heightened, movement to be decisive, and your shots to count or else you get picked off.
>>714767369That they didn't need to come up with a last-minute excuse to handwave away why their guns look so retarded.

>>714767226>its a bullpup>are you stupid or something? So is it a real gun or not?
The entire point of a bullpup is to move barrel action back at the cost of retarded design and making you deaf faster
If its magic why the fuck would it have normal gun limits?
>are you a child that cant describe why they dont like somethingBlind or retarded? As i said, visually it breaks the silhouette shape by having a random box protrude from bottom, as well as its being annoying in jabbing in your chest
Position wise its awkward, the buttstock is too short making you place your trigger hand too close to your chest, the mag will jab you in the chest too which is another fucking problem

in fact its pretty normal all things considered in destiny
alot of guns use liquid or just battery packs
you react as if this game(or all games for that matter) are supposed to design their weapons based on real life and everything has to actually function perfectly and be 100% function over form(which isnt even true in real life)

>>714769423>you just said move the action back but thats not really the whole story, and you didnt talk about why you would do that, instead you cried about "going deaf" and it being "retarded"Its kinda obvious what moving the barrel back does ... its starts early. Velocity transfer drops off like a rock past 12 inches so a short ar is good enough, and you wont be shooting at 1000meters with this crap when it wont go sub 2 moa anyway. The difference in 223 between 2800 and 3000 fps while going from 14 to 18 is negligible, so the "power" claim is laughable.
