Steam sales / REmake
Hi /v/,

what are some other games like REmake? (I can maybe pick up during the steam sale)

By similar I mean:

- fixed camera
- 3D on top of pre rendered
- interesting story
- creepy (optional)

Whatever comes to your mind that runs on PC and gave you similar feelings

If you don't have a problem with supernatural and psychological elements there is a bunch. Tormented Souls 1 and 2, Echoes of the Living, Hollow Body, Them and Us.

Thanks for the rec

I dont have a problem with different themes (such as supernatural/psych), but I am also looking for non-horror games

Crow Country

if you want more of classic RE GOG have a bundle on sale right now that includes the original 3 games.

I liked the REmakes but OG 2 has a more in-depth story and the way Capcom gutted REmake3 makes it a no brainer to play the original in that game's case.

Can always emulate them, too.
There's some good community patches out that IIRC add some QoL features.

I tried Wizordum and realised that I have an itch for fantasy. But not another grimdark but something bright (it still can have serious plot with deaths and other serious buisness ).
Any games you can recommend which aren't a comedy?

Do the original play well for modern standard?

I guess I can get past tank controls, but do they feel outdated?

They might take a bit of getting usef to but I'd definitely go in expecting them to be a product of their time. The voice acting and dialogue is also quite cheesy but it adds to the charm.
I'm pretty sure there's an option to turn tank controls off (at least their was on the N64) but I don't think the new control scheme was implemented very well to be honest the tank controls are a defining mechanic in my opinion.
I can't speak much for 1 but 2 and 3's (3 in particular) stories have many more layers to them as well as 2 having proper A/B scenarios.
I'd recommend them if you're interested, and they don't take too long to complete either.

Thanks, then I'll definitely play them.

Do you think PC version is better than emulated?

If you're willing to spend however much it is on GOG then just go for the PC releases, it's probably a more stable experience compared to emulation, or you could pirate. But they are proper PC ports.
There's some decent videos explaining the differences kicking around YouTube if you have time to kill:
