The people working on the games aren't being paid more, just the useless parasites and chaff.
The graphics are worse in a way that has no bearing on logistics or performance, so basically worthless.
The people who are "working less" aren't doing so efficiently, the managers are still shit and AI is only useful in situations where you have to hit tight deadlines with hackjob solutions due to poor management, so the employees are still engaged in the same "working more" bullshit as always, running around like headless chickens.

The meme is referring to small teams with tight coordination that don't have a lot of managerial and logistical overhead, not modern performative MBA slop that is steadily disintegrating.
