ps2 emulator
ps2 emulator
md5: 8249ca749c2a6d75f258883c9c0977b1🔍
>25 years since ps2 is out
>still crashes
>still random glitches in mgs2 & mgs3
>silent hill 2 fog looks square
>inaccurate shading
>have to choose among 20 different sound plugins, none of which works correctly
>drops to 5 fps during jungle in mgs3
>laser sensor is invisible in mgs2
>audio cracks and pops randomly above dangerous levels, potentially making you deaf
>"just change vu0 setting bro, btw it's still unstable after 20 years"
>just breaks the game in random ways

Meanwhile ps3 emulator is as advanced as being able to run the ps2 emulator ps3s used to have. What the fuck?

It sounds like you're not reading the wiki. Each game has a wiki page where you set certain parameters for the best experience. MGS2 and MGS3 have been perfect for a while now. No issues.

OP having massive skill issues it sounds like. I've been playing MGS3, GT4, Tales of the Abyss, and Tales of Destiny Director's Cut over the last month with zero unsolvable issues. You still need to turn on advanced settings for GT4 and set rounding mode to nearest, clamping mode to full to get the AI demonstrations, in-menu video, and ghosts to work right. But retarded chimps can figure that shit out so idk.

PCSX2 is great in general. 90% of games run more or less perfectly now after v2.0+. My only gripe is some of the default settings like letting games slow down on FPS drop, including the audio, rather than just letting the FPS drop naturally like on original hardware. This happens in MGS2 if you run into the hallway lasers and blow up the tanker.

That just means your hardware isn't fast enough for your cpu setting. Lower that setting, I forget what it's called. In the CPU tab, the under/over clocking setting.

This setting.
Overclock = in some games you can get higher frames like in SOTC where it defaults to 30fps but if you overclock, and have the hardware, you can get 60fps.
Underclock = If your cpu is slow games will start moving in slow motion but if you underclock then hey will run at full speed but have regular frame rate drops like they would on a PS2.

I was gaslit for the longest time to believe it's a power issue or a skill issue "works fine on my machine idk bro" but no the emulator is just fucking shit.

I'd argue it's doing active damage to the legacy of PS2 games because many people only expeience them in this weird kinda janky sterile way with missing effects everywhere.

It literally gaslit me about MGS3. I was pretty sure the game had yellow tint with some bloom effect when I played it on ps2 back then. And PCSX2 directx plugin simply didn't provide the effect for at least a decade, which brainwashed me into thinking that I misremembered. Same for patchy trees. PCSX2 presented mgs3 trees with black spots on them for years.

I had a good laugh when the retards cried out "IT'S FIXED FOR REAL THIS TIME I PROMISE" for the 10th time only to run into the same documented glitches that had been around for over a decade.

Never thought of it that way. You might be right.
