Is it really THAT good? Was thinking about getting it while the sale is going on? How's the second game?

First game is worth $5
Second game is a political management game that discards the city building aspect and iirc is still in EA

I found the first one to be very immersive and I liked the story and the environment.
As for the second one I couldn't even play for an hour, its a completely different experience lacking everything that made the first one good.

First one was ridiculously overpriced when it came out. $30 for a small polish game that isn't even AA. You'll have seen everything there is in about 8 hours and the game loop is repetitive inflexible and tedious.

It's the only city management game that ever actually got my adrenaline pumping

On paper it's fairly simple but they really struck a perfect note when the pacing, writing, music and atmosphere come together in a really cool experience.

There isn't a tonne of replayability though and the dlc isn't as good as the main thing but I got it on sale for 15 bucks and I thought it was 100% worth the price so for 5 it's a no brainer

Same I had no desire to try the sequel despite how much I loved the first, weird

This is true, but I don't regret the time or money I spent with it. I was annoyed that it ended up being "rogue like" with no endless mode. Who wants to start over, over and over? Not me!

second game is literally exactly the same as 1, but instead of individual buildings you place entire districts. It's a true sequel like helldivers 2, yes it's different but the core is the same just bigger

No, it wouldn't; it'd be gay and retarded if it was adapted.

First game is a good experience, you'll only play once then maybe experiment after. It's a slow burn that leads to a grand finale that spikes your dopamine pretty good.

First game is mostly a puzzle in the form of a city builder. The scenarios are very set in terms of what events happen when, so it's mostly a matter of executing the steps in the proper order to complete them. Once you figure out how to do it, everything falls into place.

There's an endless mode but you quickly reach a point where you stabilize on it and never have any problems again.

FP2 tries to go more towards the political aspect of managing the city but it's not very in depth. You only really get two factions who are polar opposites of each other and your big choice is to either play nice with both and seesaw back and forth or to oppress one and lean completely to the other. Ignoring one faction isn't a huge downside because the more you move away from them the less people they have in their faction until the point where they're like 3% of your overall population.

It's a very good game. If you enjoy the "brutal winter" aesthetic (i.e. The Long Dark), it's a fantastic game.

First one is good, but its "solveable" ie. the same events largely happen at the same times in the playthrough. So you progressively get better at preparing for them until you can do a scenario in your sleep.
I find that extremely comfy, so I'd still recommend it, but figured you should know because that turned off a friend of mine from it.

If you cant afford 5 bux you shouldnt be buying games at all. That said, not a bad way to spend 5 bux.

The scenario DLCs are all decent, and some are significantly harder than the main one.
But I'd only recommend if they're cheap like the base game

Last Autumn is really pretty great, the mechanics of building a generator give you something to balance over simple survival and the story progress on either route is pretty compelling. Winterhome can be fun too although it's pretty one dimensional.
