Honestly, it's a case-by-case thing. If the game needs an online connection, sometimes only needs it for the first time you boot it up. Or sometimes it needs to periodically check in. So you just have to check each game, you download from Steam. I also know Steam has an offline mode and that can help get some games that need an internet connection working without one, but that's again that's a case-by-case thing.

If you install games from GOG, obviously they'll all work offline and the same goes for emulation.

But in my experience, all the games at least I play from Steam work fine offline, and as long as the games don't have any multiplayer or court functionality, I'm sure most will be fine.

Yeah exactly, just cram a fat SD card with shit you want-emulators, ROMs, GOG installers, whatever-and you’re basically set for months. Deck handles offline mode surprisingly well as long as you don’t do anything that forces a login on boot. Hell, I’ve taken mine completely off-grid for over a month once, not a single hiccup outside of a couple games that needed third-party DRM. Just make sure Steam is in offline mode before you're stuck in open water.

Sold my deck after realizing I could just stream to my phone which has a better resolution and screen size. I do not game outside of the house.

Its been almost a year and Steam Recording video exports are still broken. You cannot export videos to another device directly through steam because of stupid Hvec issues. The only surefire way is to grab the files directly and export it yourself using third party which defeats the whole purpose of using Steam Recording

Next gen Steam Deck should be decently more powerful, currently the Switch 2 in handheld is only a bit less powerful but it does this for a fraction of the power consumption and on a larger fab process, so Steam Deck 2 with a die shrink and multiple generational leaps should be quite a bit more powerful, maybe around 75% the power of a Switch 2 for the power consumption this time around.

UE5, which is now plastered over many new games, is notorious for this because it's extremely resource hungry and is prone to stuttering because of how much stuff it already has out of the box, unlike older versions when developers had to come up with their own solutions and was easier to work with.
