Sucker Punch celebrates their history but have always been vocal that they don't like being stuck on the same franchises to the extent where making games feels lifeless and limiting.
At most they're open to other developers picking up where they left off but those developers have to exist first and be trustworthy to handle the project.
Of course there are various other factors i.e. the cost of games being far more expensive these days and not enough resources to handle multiple projects at the same time releasing at the same pace generations prior.

There are multiple Japan only games distributed to western NSO because in-theory they'd be easy to play untranslated because they're platformers and puzzle games so you wouldn't be missing on much

There's also the long speculated assumption that the music is a copyright nightmare because a bunch of the songs derive from popular tracks (biggest legal red flags being Beat It and a Beatles song) and music copyright these days is a legal minefield.
