>Hasn't been any good or even mediocre GTA clones since like 2014 with WatchDogs 2
>We finally get what we have all wanted, a GTA game for weebs
>It's gatcha slop

How hard would it be for them to give us a proper GTA clone set in Tokyo, maybe during the 80s or 90s.

>muh Yakuza
Amazing game but I don't like playing as fake gangstas that don't have their heart in on being bad guys. Give me someone who is actually a psychopath like in many of these types of games.

Of course. What I want is a new Driver game. Everything in GTA that isn't the driving was always a bore for me.

Agreed but too many people will bring it up when talking about GTA-style games or a "GTA in Japan"

The whole point of the series is that Kiryu is a goodie two shoes but some don't realize taht.

you do realize most wards in japan are NOT friendly as fuck to driving at all and streets are literally designed to force cars to go slow or take damage

The same reason nobody makes Skyrim clones. You take the games for granted but it's actually really fucking hard to make.
Just look at Mind's Eye in its attempt to be a GTA killer.

Nier is good

Code Vein is mediocre.

Haven't played the other two are they actually good or just weeb games?

>>714733402

There was a new GTA clone every 6 months in the 00s it's just that with GTAV nothing can come close to that so it was able to stay like that for a decade.

Not him but AI Limit probably has one of the best level designs in a soulslike in a long time. It's one of those games where the levels are more interesting than the bosses, like in DaS1.
Also, if you want a game that feels like BLAME!, the game has some aesthetics.

AI limit was really fun for me. Proof: I played through NG+
Didn't play khazan since it didn't interest me

Just looked at AI. IGN hates it so it might be fun. It's a fairly new game and the price is kind of high. Will likely buy it during the Steam winter sale when it's a lot cheaper

Even in gacha, you could see in recent releases that they don't actually have much players despite being f2p. Uma Musume rakes in tens of millions in revenue but it's coming from just a few thousand of people. Meanwhile other normie games get 100+k players.

Open world Tokyo games don't really work unless there is a fantasy angle. Tokyo is interesting internally, inside buildings and shit. Developers rarely like to make interiors in open world games. Not to mention finding a developer that could program a game to be stable to handle a typical crowd in Tokyo. It's why Yakuza maps are rather small, but condensed.
Hence the fantasy angle, they can avoid these issues (Ghostwire Tokyo, Twewy two "open world" games that come yo mind)
