It's boring. My favorite genre is platformers and I've just never cared about it. It's like going to the burger emporium and ordering a basic burger. Yea it's probably the safest, objectively best item on the menu, but why order it? You know what a basic burger tastes like, why not get the melty brie burger? Or the mushroom melt and swiss? You get the idea.

Levels are really really short. No save feature in the north american version, which is stupid considering the time it came out. Mario World is better. It's still cornerstone in video game history. Fun game though and I replay it often. But doing a warp free run without saves is just retarded to ask someone to do because it takes so long

the end of level slot game has too much influence for being as easy and repeatable as it is. instead of a bonus to strive for it becomes something you kick yourself when you miss. combing levels for coins and the odd 1up every other level, the main point of the game, feels like second fiuddle compared to your sprint job timing at the end of the level.
