I've beat the game at least five times. Rented it at least a dozen times when I was a kid from Blockbuster and I beat it again in college on an emulator. Really wish I had been able to get a copy of it for myself but when it was (relatively) cheap I had no money (poor college student) and my part time minimum wage job was only paying around $7.50.

Tried playing this game at least twice in my life and just could not be bothered with the clunky menus and NES-looking graphics. I get that the game is supposed to be amazing, and I’ve seen some of the gameplay further in, but I still don’t get it. What’s truly insane is how many buttfucking ugly earthbound clones got made in rpgmaker.

Earthbound is not fun. I believe the fans are dumb.

I actually played it last year, but I was never particularly a fan before and even if I liked it I don't have strong feelings towards it now.

I finished Mother 1 and today i tried Encore.
Holy shit is mother 1 a garbage ugly boring game. I hope Earthbound is better, it does look prettier! Shame the starman website for the running hack mod is down

earthbound has terrible gameplay
it is however a masterfully written anthology of short stories with touches of brilliant interactive narrative devices

if you dont care about that second part it's just a game you wont like and think is overhyped (despite literally being a hidden gem that took over a decade to reach it's audience)

What order do you play the series in? I usually start with the first part of Mother 3 Chapter 3 followed by the Mother 3 prologue and then a flashforward to Earthbound when Pokey turns off the devil's machine. I then play each game in parts, sometimes jumping forward and backward and throwing a couple of The Wedding Present and Gang of Four albums in as thematic bridges. Usually I finish playing all three final boss fights at once
