I prefer Thief 3 to Thief 1&2.

The atmosphere, man. Thief 3 might’ve had jankier movement compared to 1 & 2, but it nailed the mood. The Cradle alone is a masterclass in level design and environmental storytelling. The city hub connecting missions gave it way more immersion too. I get that Ion Storm changed some stuff, but the stealth was still solid, and the world felt lived-in. It's not perfect, but there's soul in it.

I willn't, it's entirely personal preference and most assuredly not the majority opinion. I admit that I use the extensive QoL mods to improve the experience, but I also used Tfix on the first two, though I would say the ones for 3 are quite a bit more substantial, seeing as much more needed to be improved.

yeah, that one's pretty subjective, imo the first game was the best in that aspect. The cradle would've been great, but it was too long, or at least felt too long.

Thief 4 is the most over-hated game of all time; it is still the best modern stealth game by leaps and bounds, and that's sad because it's already over 10 years old.

The cradle is the most reddit content ever made for a commercial video game.
>Spooky little girl ghost
>Spazzing out spooky enemy
>oh no the cradle remembers YOU now. Run through this dogshit "setpiece" of shadow men. Thats actually just the normal AI grunts which you can exploit and bait around with. BUT DONT HECKIN DO THAT! Arent the shadow men scary !! RUN Ahhhhhhhh
Obnoxious reddit incarnate mission. Immsims aren't built to handle stupid useless forced setpieces. Thief 2 FM a better tomorrow is the Cradle but not shit or ruined by the ghost little girl quest giver

I don't know which Thief I'm playing(ps4) but is pretty good, the option to save at any time makes it too easy though, I guess a playthrough without save would make it challenging.

Why dark souls 2 when 3 was a genre shift into rollspam that literally NOBODY asked for.
Dark souls 2 plays like 1. 3 plays like 3D punchout as you watch the boss do a 40 hit combo.
Why the fuck does 3 get away with this? ANSWER ME!

The city hub was one of the most disappointing parts for me.
In 1 and 2 the City seemed so vast, but going through the hub in 3 made it seem small and boring.

For me it's the house of widow moira.
The Cradle is just kino. Nothing to add to it.

I'd say T3 is a pinnacle of stealth genre but it fails miserably towards the end with all of that last boss chase in the city. It downhills from a stealth game to an action rpg wannabe.

Yeah, putting it on Xbox kneecapped it from the start. ION Storm were entirely capable of making a proper successor to both Thief 1/2 and Deus Ex, but wasted their fan's good will by shoehorning T3 and DXIW onto a console clearly incapable of delivering what was expected from their predecessors.

If it wasn't for the
>dagger replacing sword
>models turned into midgets

MGS4 being better than the other games was contrarian when it released. When 5 released, newfags thought that MGS was about generic AAA shooter wide open spaces of nothing, with no indoor areas and very little to do, so liking any other game is "contrarian" to these retards.

people that hype the Cradle are people that 1. don't actually like thief 1+2; 2. don't play actual horror games; and/or 3. soijack redditors

The Cradle is an insult to thief. Its one of the most on-rails missions in the original "trilogy", almost as bad as something out of Thi4f.

Half of it wasn't actually Xbox' fault but the engine, they started development on some variation of Unreal engine and in early dev shots levels were much bigger abd more detailed. But then they implemented stencil shadows which were do demanding zhst they gad to both butcher levelsvibto shoeboxes and massively reduce geometric detail to cooe.

The #1 focus in QoL mods was making them one contiguous map again, and it works amazingly well. It is a bit like polishing a turd, but the mods are some really high quality polish.

You retards realize that Looking Glass went under because their games didn't sell? The decision to make console version was a desperate attempt to gain new revenue. Every time you cry about console you expose the fact PC could sustain such games.

The Cradle and Widow Moria Mansion were as close as you could get to the first two games.

You can say The Cradle was easy, or exploitable, who cares, it worked, specially after the first disappointing missions cause it manage to hit on something.

the Cradle is like 90% walking sim. Its on rails. What the fuck do you mean as close as you can get to the first games? Just because huge swathes of DS are trash doesn't mean the Cradle is suddenly anywhere close to T1&T2. The Cradle fundamentally betrays the gameplay of Thief by being a boring scripted on-rails level

The Cradle has neat storytelling but when i replayed 3 (like a decade ago) i realised i could just perma kill the zombies and then it was a fair bit less threatening. The Cradle knockoff in 4 (Moira Asylum) has some decent ideas and is mechanically better imo, weird soft reboot stuff on that one aswell

I started Thief II right after finishing the first game, but don't know if I'm feeling it, think I'm really missing the paranormal stuff from the first game as well as the more adventure-like missions. Have you guys played The Dark Mod or The Black Parade mission pack? Do any of those resemble the first game more than the second?
