Richard Garriott because he sold his childhood world to EA who proceeded to kill it and he ruined his reputation by almost always suing any company he works with.
Warren Spector because nobody ever saw eye to eye with his vision. I'd argue Deus Ex was the only game he ever wanted to make and afterwards just sort of gave up pursuing any other goal.
