they are literally powered by the strength of your ego, the mechanic of persona summoning in P3 is tied to the idea that your superego would put a gun to your head and your id would pull the trigger, and then your ego would still go "yeah, i'd win"

They're allowed to stretch the dress code within reasonable extents, but they all still wear the school uniform. Door, Junpei, Fuuka, and Aigis all wear the winter uniform. They just each wear something different under it.
Mitsuru, Yukari, and Akihiko all wear the summer uniform, just with different things over it. Yukari wears a cardigan, Akihiko wears a vest.

It's a hell of a lot different from say Anne modifying her uniform into a hoodie.

I wish they had explored the concept of the evoker more in the game, as it could have been an interesting exploration of philosophical and psychological themes, but they never pay any attention to the concept beyond its shock value of students simulating shooting themselves in the head. Just like they use Judeo-Christian imagery for their enemies but it never goes beyond surface level references.

Subsequent games pretty much sanitize the entire process (4) or make the symbolism so obvious (5) it doesn’t really bear exploring there. Maybe the first two entries had something more interesting to say about it.

It doesn't, anon is generalising whereas personas are closer to self-actualisation (finding fulfilment) and evokers are about using that to fight and overcome the death drive
It's subtly different but it is distinct, because it does manifest as confidence in the face of impossible odds, but it's less "yeah, I'd win" and more "yeah, I'd fight anyway", you just happen to win because your will is stronger than your enemies
And on top of that, it's not nonsense, that's literally how Persona works, so at worst it's dream logic but it's more like reality is magical since the collective unconscious is real and impacts 'reality'

Also Reload bungled Fuuka's social link by rewriting it platonically, part of her self-confidence arc is in her finding the strength to flirt and admit she has feelings for you
