He is the ultimate secondary character, no one notices when he is there, but if you remove him something feels off.
He is no ones favorite character, but no one hates him.
Unlike Knuckles, he never had an important role in any game (knuckles had it in sonic and knuckles)

We need drama between Sonic and Tails. It's the only way to take a character who has nothing that lets them stand apart from a major character and elevate them in their own right.

I hate how little they did to develop his friendship with sonic, theu could have easily just made him a childhood friend that looked up to him while he was still with the owl, and that's why he used tech to keep an eye on him, but they kinda half assed it cause we already know they should be friends so they basically just used it as an excuse to skip the necessary character development. A brotherly bond doesn't develop overnight, theu could have at least made their adventure together around earth last a little longer. And have him use more of that tech, the little laser pistol the nigress stole from him seemed cool.
