Gameplay gets stale 5 hours in but drags on for 20 hours.

It's horror until you learn to follow the basic pattern:

Hear alien come out of vent
Hide
Alien fucks off back into the vents
Move a little closer to your objective
Alien comes out of the vents
Repeat

Get flamethrower, never worry about the alien-the one threat in the game--ever again.

If you overuse the flamethrower, over time it will require more fuel to scare off the alien. Your other items like flares, noisemakers, etc also become less effective if you overuse them

If you cycle through your options you never have to worry about the alien. The flamethrower is a get out of jail free card for those rare instances the alien catches you somewhere there isn't a conveniently placed locker to hide in.

You ALWAYS have to worry about it, even if you use the flamethrower. She can catch you from behind, climb into the vents, and snatch you out of lockers. There’s no point where Ripley has a significant advantage over the alien
