Should I buy this game? The gameplay looks fun

The job system doesn't make sense at all in the context of the rest of the gameplay and it sucks ass compared to something like BD but it uses Press Turn so its still way better than Shitsona

It's OK. I don't really find the dungeons fun and the boss fights are really easy unless you are lobotomized. That just left the art, which was good, and the story, which was honestly pretty retarded but I liked some of the characters.

I'd say it is pretty good.
Story starts strong, ending is kinda weird
Characters are really good, some great party members with full backstories/character arcs
Combat is decent, job system is a neat idea but not fully fleshed out.
I do not regret my purchase and would overall recommend it, if it is on sale even better though.

Yeah just go in with the mindset it's one those localization. Where they make basic translation mistakes, then have the audacity to get creative.

It's a celebration title so it has lots of references to other Atlus games. A good chunk of my enjoyment came from:

I don't think it's very good as a standalone game without that knowledge.

It's ok. For a JRPG it sits above the rest of its ilk but that's not saying much. It gets very preachy at times and follows a lot of formulaic Japanese storytelling we've all seen a thousand fucking times.

It's saving grace is the combat isn't outright garbage like you'd usually expect from these kinds Jap shit games, and its high notes in the story, while few, are pure fucking Kino.
Also keep in mind that Louis did literally nothing wrong, and you're the real villain

Louis did a lot of things wrong but I forgive him because he is pretty. That scene where you come back with Eupha who introduces herself politely, and for absolutely no reason he tells her he would have nuked her entire island into ash and murdered everyone on it was unbelievably autistic.

Nah, that was extremely based. Same with him outright admitting to killing the King if you ask him.
The guy was a Chad who did not fuck around, he was a great antagonist.

Do you want fantasy Persona? If yes, then get it.
If you hate Persona, then no.

It has date system, main story is on similar timer as Persona games past 3, there's social stats to raise, and people who you can hang out with whose bonds give you more powers.
The combat system is better, but still fairly similar.
