Yes it's a very good beginner arcade stick

The Hori ones for this generation are shit by comparison and the Qanba ones are way too overpriced and also inferior to their predecessors

If you have shekels to splurge buying the Victrix Pro during sale or go full gook with the IstMall Makestick Prime

unless you're being competitive what arcade stick you get doesn't matter
just look for one with good build quality thats within your budget

Is there an arcade Gauntlet on steam? Does that count?

Yes. When you buy pre-made you're paying for the enclosure and compatibility. F700 is a decent box that can fit a ton of stick options, has wireless and is compatible with nearly every modern platform.

probably, i use the f500 elite which looks pretty much the same and its worked for me

I play all my 2D games with my stick. Some of my favorites:
Downwell
Ghosts 'n Goblins
Eschatos
Mushihimesama
Spelunky
Valfaris
ZeroRanger
Lumines
Tetris
Devil Blade
Volgarr the Viking

Also, all the Metroidvanias that don't require a right stick (damn you, Bloodstained!).
I even played Shiren with the stick.
The old Ys games are also great on it.

It's my favorite input device.

Sanwa parts are good enough. Widely available and easily replaceable (I swap buttons about once a year).
