Is there any good reason I shouldn't buy it?

The Switch 2 or the Pro Controller specifically? If you don't already have a Switch 2 you can probably wait for more games, if you already have a Switch 2 but don't have a Pro Controller you definitely should have gotten it with your system.

Buy a Switch 2 now so you don't get fucked by the orange clown's tariffs later.

The gamepad? The D-Pad allegedly isn't really any much better.

They'll probably just pull a Sony and raise the price in every other nation except the US kek.

The controller you mean? If you have a Switch 2, sure I guess. Otherwise not really.

Just buy one these guys (8bitdo usb wireless adapter 2) and use 3rd party controllers with your switch/switch 2. I'm using the dualsense controller + 8bitdo ultimate 2 on the switch 2 simultaneously, though I had to update the adapter's firmware first. My nephews should be glad not having to use the shitty joycons anymore

why buy still obsolete tech now? the next controllers from xbox/sony will probably also use hall-effect etc. once released

The controller isn't an improvement over the Shitch 1 Pro. If you enjoy wasting money then do it

that sounds like a good idea. I think I'll wait for a controller design I really like to grab like I did with the skyward sword joy-cons

That's more than double the amount of games the xbox series had, if anything that's a good start
