It meant you could actually play around with projectiles and magic more, but it also meant you had the drawback with that reducing your firepower and leaving you helpless without melee attacks if you completely drained it. And it still allowed the player to use expendable weapon points with the glyph unions. Three presets is still too low to really use the variety of the glyphs.
Also I do wish they used the magnet mechanic more for platforming challenges. Like the training hall platform hell level was a neat challenge that I felt could have been more present in the normal level design but then that'd would make the game even more of a platformer where it seems more of the challenge lies in the combat.
