Reminder that you should replay the 2D Ninja Gaiden games before Ragebound comes out this month.

I've wanted to get into the Ninja Gaiden games for a while, at least the ones that are good. Is there a game recommended to start with and are there any worth skipping?

A couple years ago I tried to beat the first one on Wii virtual console and got stuck that stupid boss where you have to dodge his lightning by jumping off the platform. Tried for a week and just gave up after that

I have beaten every version and port of the original Ninja Gaiden but I don't really like the sequels. 2 is good but the pacing lacks the break neck speed of the original, 3 feels like some random shovelware trash
