>>714859963>Only retarded fanboys will consider this move a long term brand damage.No. It's long term brand damage because it causes Sony to lose reasons why someone would opt for Playstation over hopping to PC or Switch for roughly the same price. This was literally the entire reason why they made the PS4 Pro; they were terrified people were going to jump to PC once they realized it wasn't that much more expensive than buying a PS4 and in terms of performance it was much better. It's now even more relevant because the Switch 2 is significantly more competitive than anyone thought performance-wise.
Putting your exclusives on another platform leads to you becoming a third-party publisher over time instead of an industry leader over time as your brand loses its "exclusive" value. Your entire appeal as a console creator and ecosystem is that you have some sort of way to attract developers to make exclusive games for your platform (Or at the very least tailored to your specific platform), foster brand new IPs and genres that flourish on your platform, and force people to have FOMO because your game won't be on other platforms. Putting any first-party game on PC, Xbox, or Switch was retarded for the brand, full stop. If you can't acknowledge that then you don't care about the gaming ecosystem as a whole, you just want everything to be multiplat completely ignoring the massive benefits the consumer sees due to exclusives.
There is a reason why Nintendo does not port their games outside of one very specific exception for the Nvidia Shield which was to get into the Chinese market: It devalues the brand. You NEED to buy the Switch because for 99% of people emulation is immoral or doesn't exist. Mario, Pokemon, Metroid, Animal Crossing, Splatoon, Fire Emblem, Pikmin, and so on are only found on that specific platform. If you and your friends want to play the main titles everyone wants and not some garbage mobile cash grabs that's the only way to do it.
