The Fort Knox of console hacking.

https://youtu.be/JNa7A_Rvpj4?si=IkaxUOxrQfYtVL1B&utm_source=MTQxZ

Too long, didn't watch:

>Every single point of contact of the console involves crypto authentication
>Every Switch 2 has its own unique crypto hash to verify all code being executed
>The Dock performs 30 crypto hash checks before even outputting video, no 3rd party dock can work yet
>Every system update destroys an "e-fuse", any attempt to rollback the OS will result in the system noticing the missing e-fuse and bricking.
>Both hardware and software using cutting edge security protocols and extra coprocessors.

Basically, expect it to take a few years for Switch 2 CFW to happen, if it happens. May not happen until Switch 3 is out, on the less optimistic side. A matter of months is unrealistic expectation.

That one probably updated firmware to actually do the 30 checks. I just looked it up, apparently every one needed a firmware update and most of them have some kind of functionality issue (lack of HDR, charging etc).

Eh I never hacked mine and used ryujinx instead. I always thought that soft modding by destroying fuses was retarded and I didn't want to risk it. The less normalfags and thirdies in the piracy scene the better. They are too loud and act like if they are a gay movement against the big bad company when piracy and homebrew is a selfish hobby.

The Switch's security failures have spoiled script kiddies and emubeggars.
While no device is unhackable, devices can take a huge amount of time to crack. I wish we had more people working on that and less people begging for an emulator to be done already.

progress with emulators and cfw is separate and largely independent of each other
emulation is supposed to be done via clean room reverse engineering, by figuring out the actualy gpu instructions and recreating them

Kek, to be fair they also let you run the console in dev mode for a small fee and you can just download emulators or anything else you would mod a console for, it'd be like hacking a steam deck.

no wonder switch 2 visual lag is so fucking bad.
why would these retards be concerned about a legit switch outputting video to a custom source. that doesn't even have anything to do with emulation, they just hate their customers and are so anti-consumer they don't want you replacing or repairing your own dock without buying a new one from them.

on one hand, good for nintendo
on the other hand, bad for preservation, if it ever gets hacked, we would have lost years of games in their prepatched states, and I like looking at models/textures/etc in games

and every system that sells like hotcakes is due to piracy, switch wouldn't have sold as much otherwise

Good, not because I give a shit about Nintendo losing money, but because it will finally give us more solid evidence if piracy even does affect this shit in any measurable way. Fully expecting the initial sales difference to be barely any different, while a lot of Switch 2's exclusive library fails to gain as much long-term cultural relevancy online as previous system libraries did due to future players being locked out of experiencing it in any convenient way, which will reduce the value of future ports/sequels from the fanbases being smaller.

Switch 2 is going to be one of those generations people barely fondly remember in history because it has no outstanding features, it's just a more locked-down extension of Switch 1. Even Nintendo's past failures like VB and Wii-U can have notable fanbases because they still offer something nothing else does.

That's a good point I still boot up Cemu, Citra and Dolphin to play games.
even though the quality of games on those emulators is much higher than what we've seen on switch 2 so far I would still not be bothered playing them if I had to scavenge and dust off some old piece of shit hardware to play them at a much lower resolution and FPS with much worse graphics, no AA and no mods.
they would just be thrown on the trash pile of history like the 1000s of mobile games that had their servers shut down.
