Damn this shit sounds good. Like its actually trying to have some intentionality and identity to its level design. Why is this game so forgotten then? Ive been looking for an action adventure game that would actually try to commit to being more than just straight brute force action with like 1 or 2 "puzzles" every 5 hours where youre just standing still in a room interacting with things disconnected from the enviroment mostly like a prompt.
https://youtube.com/watch?v=V-NF2L02pic
Is this IGN vid wrong? Every other video essay on YouTube seems to dislike the game. I dont know which normie side to listen to, the ones that hate or love the game, its why I dont want to listen to the normies at all, because they would have led me to believe The Last of Us was bad because they dont care about the gameplay, and the haters are a different type of wannabe that also doesn't care about the gameplay, just what theyve arbitrarily decided the gameplay represents.

But its never the true gamers who played TLOU on grounded that ever elucidate it's value, which having played on grounded, I now understand and appreciate.

I dont want to make the mistake of ignorance and hasty judgment based on a common overarching perception. I want to enjoy videogames in all the interesting ways it can be designed. If designed well.

Well. I actually do personally think that the 2018 game was kinda just shit and shallow. But the sequel seems to make a genuine consorted effort to actually have some substance and identity, which is rare for modern action adventure games which always feel like a direct copy of something else. The puzzle filled level design gives it more soul, if truly moreso than the first game.

This gameplay doesn't get better on harder difficulty. It's just boring. Stealth sections are dogshit and if I wanted to play stealthy I would prefer to play other games that do this way better.
I haven't really seen any action since they threw stealth sections at me one after another. Don't pretend that tlou on hardest diff gets any better. It's a sony game after all

This is one of THE few games where its actually borderline impossible to not end up fucking up your stealth and having to shoot out in the end, especially with how big and open some levels are. Or shit like the generator that force you not to rely strictly on stealth like a pussy. Its one of the reasons the game is so good. There are so many stealth games that are only "good" stealth games that cant make the action of being caught and engaging conundrum to get yourself out of.
>Don't pretend that tlou on hardest diff gets any better. It's a sony game after all

You haven't played stealth games if you say shit like this.
Go play first splinter cell or blacklist (endless mode is good challenge)
You can also play like hundred of other zombie games where it's just like tlou but better.
You know why I think tlou is bad and especially stealth? Because in most stealth games I actually feel something while doing that, while in tlou I feel no thrill or anything. But fine, I will try to play it again and maybe finish it.

Ragnarok puzzles are still basic action game puzzles. They are there to create downtime. Half the time you just throw some weapon at some interactable. They won't exactly stump you. Also an NPC will tell you the solution within 5 seconds of entering the puzzle or if you set NPC hints to "reduced"(lowest setting) they'll spoil you in 15 seconds. Moving the puzzle objects physically into position takes at least 25 seconds.

You want puzzles play The Talos Principle.

I thought the puzzles in both nuGoW games were pretty barebones and boring because most of the time they consist of "find the thing you can interact with", it all felt very very scripted too, in a we playtested and dumbed down this shit 100 times so nobody ever gets stuck way.

The puzzles in classic GoW were better even though some of them were block pushing because they were not pretending to be more than what they were and the upgrades you would get were actually meaningful making taking the time to solve them feel rewarding. The classic games were also much better paced, the platforming and puzzle sections allowed you to catch your breath between the frantic combat, in nuGow you watch 30min of cutscenes, travel to the next location, watch some more cutscenes, walk around while characters talk, row the boat, and after all that you are doing the slow puzzles.

There isnt a single puzzle in the water temple. You bomb an obvious cracked wall. Hit a crystal switch underwater with hookshot, push a block along a fixed path, and hookshot the blatantly only hookshottable hookshot panels. Lol retard. I could recite the entire dungeon from beginning to end off memory. Dumbfuck retard "Its actually not scripted because even though you bomb the obvious cracked wall, and hookshot the only hookshottable think available, and play the ocarina at the designated "play the ocarina symbol" because I am a dumbfucking subhuman retard with no brain or self awareness. I think le water temple is actually hardcore and complex and so its actually good and expertly designed anyway.
