come on now anon. I've got that CPU but it's easily outclassed now especially by AMD's offerings. The 2500k was only so legendary because AMD was shit at the time and intel stagnated+++++

It's overpowered and great for that, but amd has faaaaar better offerings around the same price range for gaming

No. The 5600 is the first really good Ryzon cpu because that was when AMD actually beat Intel in single-core performance. The cope up to that point, including with your 3000series chip, was that it was a good value(cheaper) and won in multi-core workloads, but gaming is still largely all about single-core performance.

why do oldfags/poorfags deepthroat the i5-2500k when it's almost completely unusable nowadays
even the i7-860 is more usable than it SOLELY because of those 8 threads, to say nothing of the sandy bridge i7s, the REAL goats of their time
they also aged better than the absolute trash that were FX cpus

It's one of those half a dozen 5600 variants that AMD has pumped out due to amassing skews that didn't meet the specs for existing labels. 5600T looks like 5600X that didn't quite meet the mark, so it should be marginally better than regular 5600.

my first ever cpu was a 4690k which i overclocked to 4.3ghz and i thought i had one of the best gaming systems money could buy but within a year or two i couldn't max games out anymore because 4 cores 4 threads was becoming fast outdated. i ended up buying a cheap ebay xeon which was equivalent to an i7 4770 and it only had a 3.6ghz max clockspeed but games ran way better with those extra threads. and then dx12 games started coming out and it made that xeon age like damn finewine because of dx12 multithreading support. i still miss it. champ of a processor.

The new 2500K was the 3600. Not the 5600X, not the 7500F, not the 12400F
everyone and their dog had a fucking 3600. this is the most reviewed chip on pcpartpicker by a mile, it was recommended everywhere, it was featured in every budget to midrange build. Even higher end gaming builds often used it because Intel had threadlets CPUs outside of the 9900K and the 3700X / 3900X hardly performed any better than the 3600 in games at the time
It didn't quite have the same overclocking potential as the 2500K but later 3600s could often OC well enough to push past early 3600Xs for what little that's worth, and memory overclocking could actually be useful on Zen 2 as the IF wasn't complete garbage

Nowadays fags who missed out can still get it in the Ryzen 5 4500, which is a CPU that was shit on by litereally everyone but is still very much usable and good value once its price dropped.

Pre-5000 series used (up to) four core CCXes that combined formed a CCD (of up to 8 cores).
Compared to a 5000 series processor, this can result in worse performance depending on thread count of a given application.
Chances are at worst you just need a bios update to drop in a 5000 series upgrade, if you really care enough. If it's still working for you, just keep waiting for AM6.

its still a solid cpu. was using one in another rig that was actually doing a ton of productivity work as well as gaming up until about 6mo ago. was actually on that system again this last 2 weeks while my other much newer rig was down for maintenance due to a psu failure. Its not the fastest horse in the race by any means but games are still perfectly playable and productivity tasks are fine, they just take longer. honestly this little chip is gonna be fine as a secondary/backup pc for years to come. i kept my 2500k in daily service until 2023.

Oh for sure. Zen 2's definitely starting to age and Zen 3 is holding up a fair bit better, but it's still perfectly usable. I upgraded to a 5700X a couple years ago because it was gifted to me, but if not I'd probably still be rocking the 3600
mine OC'd pretty well too, 4.35ghz CCX1 and 4.25 CCX2 with a lower than stock voltage, could've probably pushed a fair bit higher if I'd actually overvolted

I don't understand "missing" or lamenting the retirement of a cpu or gpu. I am very into computers and tech, and i love getting a new piece of hardware and seeing what it can do and whatever improvements it has, i also appreciate when it can hold up for many years. But it's still just a cpu and as soon as it gets outdated i am happy to get rid of it and upgrade

I assume poorfag, you can easily upgrade to the i7-2600 for like 20 bucks. It won't be that much of an improvement but stutters will reduce, and 8 threads is minimum for 2025 barring the rare 6c/6t like the i5-8400 (still very much usable btw)
Otherwise you can buy cheap am4 boards still brand new and get something like the ryzen 5 5500. It will be a massive upgrade.

If you buy used, you can get all of that (except power supply. never get that used if you can) very cheaply. Ebay and using your brain with the pictures, seller history, etc is your friend.
You can probably find local deals too elsewhere. If you must buy new, AM4 is still the best value and DDR4 RAM has gotten quite cheap. Good new powersupplies can be found on Amazon for about 70 bucks or so.
>don't plan on playing AAA slop
Then don't upgrade at all. If you have to CONSOOM something to feel better then spend 20 bucks on that used i7-2600 to improve stutters and that's all you'll need. Once you have a clear cut upgrade path to what you want, you can sell your old pc to make what you want a little less costly.

I can get 5800XT for 130$, is that a good deal or just wait for AM6? I have ryzen 3600 and 1660 Ti and honestly I just wanna play Cyberpunk, Expeditions and FF7 Rebirth. Also Total War Warhammer 3. I was thinking of 5800XT and maybe getting a used gpu for 300$ or 9060 XT. I have a goldrated 650 psu so it should be good with a midlevel gpu.
