Real time button input prompts on your screen and the first tutorial is always "press xyz to move jump etc" the game is considering you retarded so it teaches you to jump. Any genre that is still being developed, for example, Soulsgames. Indie Soups games will look like amatuerish slop compared to Fromsoft titles.

Not sure how Zelda doesn't count as puzzles when every game has a dozen dungeons or in case of TotK 120 shrines + dungeons filled with some pretty creative, satisfying puzzles that often have multiple solutions and easily mog indie shit, which is why they copy it

Some of my indie pet peeves are inconsistent af garmmar, shitty trailers with too many cuts, no option to invert both cameras axes like in Wobbly Life or no variable jump heights. They constantly get things wrong that are long standard.

No. There is no "supposed to" about indie games. How many games end up being and how they can be are two compeltely different things. There is nothing stopping an indie game from being extremely original and trend setting. In fact there are PLENTY of examples of this happening.

That's not splitting hairs, indie games just weren't a concept the way they are today (and even today we have no hard definition for them). They were just games like the rest of them and we didn't put them in a special category for which we wittingly or unwittingly lowered our standards because indies are such hard done by special snowflakes. We're obviously talking about new trends. But sure I can grant you those two old games that are only on there because they agreed to not list too many Cave games

Indie games feel like patchwork quilts, charming but you can see all the seams. Or a stew that hasn't fully cooked and half the ingredients still taste raw and you can tell exactly what they were going for but none of it really comes together how it should. No idea how people can get invested in them.

Honestly I understand. I didnt like the demo that much. But as my experience with Noctis indicates. I dont tend to like the beginning of their games anyway. Its something that gets better with more abilities. I am somewhat disappointed that theyre still relying so heavily on fast travel and "multiple paths that lead no where or make the first path redundant no reason!" level design. But ive basically accepted that they suck at exploration level design at this point. I just hope everything else is good.
