I just finished the story of Red Dead 1 and I don’t think I’ve ever played something this disappointing or boring. I know Rockstar can’t write a story or characters for shit, but this was especially garbage. Not to mention the controls, shooting, saving, and fast traveling were all terrible too. The open world was empty and bland with nothing to do, and most of the missions were a total chore.

I haven’t played Red Dead 2, but I’ve heard it’s just more of the same.

To this day, RDR1 is the only Rockshit game I like. Lonely spaghetti western atmosphere and story, a world that genuinely feels alive, and freedom to fuck around in it. It's the only one they got right.

I’m someone who played GTA IV, RDR1, Max Payne 3, and GTA V to death on my old PS3. I have also played through RDR2 when it first released, and the PS4 remastered version of RDR last year, so I know what I’m talking about.

I am not surprised that you were disappointed by RDR1. Upon revisiting this game, a rush of memories flooded back, but the more hours I put into it, the less and less I liked it. The game was narratively okay, the atmosphere was amazing, but the gameplay just doesn’t hold up. The environment is also extremely chaotic, especially if you go into West Elizabeth, the random event and hostile wildlife spam was getting very old the closer I got to 100%.

RDR2 is not the same case. It’s a slow-burn experience that is not at all similar to RDR1. But, that is not only part of the charm, the mandatory slow pace of the game is what truly makes it special and playable. I never felt like I was in a rush to do anything, and I’ve never felt so immersed in a videogame. You will either love it, or you will hate it, but not for the same reason you disliked RDR1.

World is empty as shit and traversing by horse got old fast
95% of missions are: horseride to location and kill bad guys, with the occasional horse race and cow herding sprinkled in
When I unlocked the third area I couldn't wait to be done, but they had a few more slop missions to pad out the game
Couldn't give any less of a fuck at the final missions, John reunites with his family and they do stuff together, setting up for the tragic ending, but I never even met these characters and all they do is treat John like shit
I got the ending spoiled of course but ig it would be a highlight for me since it's a first in a rockshit game
Getting revenge in the epilogue was a dissappointing wet fart, but ig that was the le point

Nope, RDR is an excellent western game that in many ways parallels one of the greatest western films of all time, The Wild Bunch. RDR2, on the other hand, is just literal woke slop with modern, "elliptical politics" shoehorned in (their words). Gaymers seem to laud it as the greatest game of all time however.

RDR2 is a bit different, the story is arguably a bit better but the controls are absolute dogshit and the gameplay is piss easy and extremely hand-holdey to the point of being seriously annoying. A lot of design decisions are questionable at best. The map is amazing to explore though, I'll give em that.

I played RDR2 to death and the only character I have any sort of sympathy for is Micah because fuck me everyone else is either useless, pathetic or a colorful combination of both. Micah is actually bad, he knows he is actually bad and he's the only actual gangster in the whole gang (at the time rdr2 takes place).
I'd much rather play as Micah or have him lead the gang and do some actual gangstering instead of whatever the fuck that Van der Linde bs was.

In RDR2 they went all in with the "cinematic game" shit, à la God Of War 2018. It's got that same "forces you to slow walk forward" bullshit in it's missions. It's a terrible game.
And while it's true that rockstar has been putting leftist angles into their games stories since GTA 4, it's still way less than in RDR2. Compare the "We are women and we are free!" scene from GTA 5 to the feminist rally mission in RDR2. They still had some bite in them even as recently as GTA5. RDR2 is le wholesome lumberjack libtard tier shit
