this being one of the first things you see when you start card-en-ciel should explain why it's not as popular. It makes it look like the game isn't taking itself seriously.
But in general the game's balance is a little poor and it's too easy. This is a problem with all of the sts inspired games that I've played; they're too afraid to make the game difficult. Card-en-Ciel's system where it forces you to build a certain deck type each game doesn't help, since you don't have to think as hard about card picks. You mostly just need to grab everything for your archetypes, occasionally picking generically good cards if you see them.

I think the more glaring issue is that most sts clones don't want to make the game DIFFERENT. To the point where they may as well be a character mod for STS itself.
Spires difficulty got to where it is through tons of data collection and tuning, most games won't put that level of care into the difficulty and power level. But especially they will stick with the rigid systems that spire already has.

Looks like they set the Deception engine graphic as their new pfp and banner so it's all in on there. I would have liked to have a few more outfits and DLCs but I understand wanting to move to the next project if it's in verse.
