I always hated the moon link design and it's game aesthetic as a teen . It felt like a Disney downgrade after playing ocarina. I always hated that young link was considered the main link instead of teen link from ocarina.

Most Links prior to Ocarina were young. The Link of the original Legend of Zelda was a kid who got a bit older in Zelda II. The Link of A Link to the Past was also a kid. It wasn't until starting from Twilight Princess where the majority of mainline Links were older than 14.

In general, most Links tend to be somewhere between Child Link in OoT and the older Links of the Game Cube-Wii era. OoT's Child Link is probably the youngest version of Link, somewhere around 8-10 years old. Despite his appearance, the Toon Links are generally meant to be a bit older than OoT's Child Link, somewhere around 12 to 13.

OOT Link looks good in artwork, but in-game you have stuff like his Soul Caliber version and his Hyrule Warriors version, which are both iterations on the OOT design, but look infinitely better in-game.

Wind Waker's Link has arguably the greatest drive of any of them, after the game itself introduced the idea of Ganondorf and Link being constants it also introduced a Link that wasn't part of those constants and he had nothing at all to do with Ocarina of Time, but he still grew into the role, claimed the Master Sword and Triforce of Courage, and even re-established Link as a constant in his timeline via Spirit Tracks

It's already a "legendary" shield when the Thunder Dragon has it so it's still a total fucking mystery. I knew since the 80s that Zelda (who you call 'Link') - the player character - was a girl. i mean you can't point to one thing on the drawing they put on the box that is what a boy looks like.
