Why didn't Igor help Adachi live a happier life?
Anonymous No.714921832 [Report] >>714921972
Why didn't Adachi just stop being a disillusioned fuckhead?

Men have to pull themselves up

Literally all Adachi wanted was friends.

>man is born without charisma and talent, is unsatisfied with his lot in life
This is understandable
>man obtains super powers and uses it to murder women and frame innocent people for shits and giggles
He's a bitch.

And he would have gotten away with it too if it weren't for those meddling kids.

unironically what else are you supposed to do with tv powers? if the investigation team didn't have anyone to save they wouldn't have had a reason to use them at all.

Maybe if Igor had helped him instead of letting a giant eye god brainwash him he wouldn't be in this situation to begin with, ever thought about that?

Because that isn't Igor's job. Igor lets Adachi raise, change, and fuse Personas in accordance with his Fool Arcana. Adachi, from there, has the right to choose what to do with his power. Adachi didn't want to lead a happier life, he wanted to lead an isolated life of control and stewing cynicism.

I still feel like Adachi was completely robbed. He should have been the primary antagonist. Izanami just was not interesting at all. Adachi should have doubled down on his defeat, got a Persona evolution and proceeded to do everything Izanami was going to do.

Are we sure Igor even interacted with Adachi?

Adachi wasn't smart or profound enough to give the same "You humans are so fucking obsessed with TV drama and gossip that you'll live in a false reality just to be amused" speech that Izanami did. Yes, you could argue that the least interesting "final bosses" in Persona games are the obligatory god fights, but there was still a pretty prophetic motivation behind Izanami that's eerily relevant to this day. You were never going to get that same kind of revelation from a puppet like Adachi, even though he was far more amusing.

Going by earlier games' rules, any Persona user can enter the Velvet Room if they have the willingness to change and grow. If the same rule still applies to the later games, it'd mean Adachi wasn't willing to improve, which is very much the case even until the very end.

I get that, but it seems like the later games don't really follow the same rules, otherwise more of the party members would incidentally be able to perceive and enter it. If anything, this would imply Igor and Velvet Room has preferential treatment to the protagonists.

I think the rule still applies, but it's definitely more preferential now. Igor seems to only reach out now to a select few who can cause the greatest amount of change. On the topic of 4, he reaches out to Yu because Yu was chosen by Izanami to be an aspect of hope, and therefore had the greatest chance to lift the town of Inaba from its funk.

The way it was written, no, and that was the problem. Adachi shouldn't have been written as a puppet to begin with. It would have been a very small jump to have him saying the things Izanami did. Hell, the last boss could have been with his Shadow saying all the cynical garbage Izanami spat out. He could have owned who his shadow was and come to realize the depths of his personal failings and awoken to the same Persona as Yu, it could have ended with a thematically nice note instead of just another "lmao here's a giant skeleton out of nowhere" and I'll never not be mad about it.
