You're supposed to leave it as background noise while you're doing something else.

I haven't watched twitch since Bezos bought it. Apparently it's almost entirely non-vidya streams these days

I check in on Claude Plays Pokemon once every 2 days. Otherwise it's just the biggest piece of shit website ever.

I enjoy streaming so much more than I enjoy watching streams.
Twitch fucking sucks dick. It's a lot easier to use than YouTube for streaming, but it just fucking blows in pretty much every other regard, especially for viewers.

it's basically just modern tv.
it becomes so habitual it turns into a compulsion and things don't "feel right" unless you have it on your screen.
I'm this way with videos in general, not really twitch though, but same idea.

Same, although I don't do it as much as I want to because I'm always editing down streams to make into actual videos, then further down to clips. Life is suffering. All I want to do is play video games and make people laugh

I wouldn't use the word addiction but considering the amount of time I put in it's probably not too far off the mark. I have a second monitor and some games really aren't meant to be your sole focus, mainly puzzle, open world survival craft, gacha, simulation games, etc. I watch someone and catch most of there streams. It's like a really low maintenance friend you can pause/speedup/skip ahead. You can also watch while you browse the web. It's background noise just like the tv was.

Grats, you can actually watch edited youtube videos, or movies/shows/anime, or games that take your whole attention. What will you do with the time?

Nah, I would call your use case pretty standard. You're not realizing that you're capable of multitasking multiple low effort tasks and confusing your increased watch/listen time as towing the line of "addiction"
