>this is aggravated even worse by the constant spamming of quicksave and quickload (literal save states) to remove and trivialize all challenge of the game.
What went wrong? This is why I unironically enjoy console shooters more nowadays and why HALO ran circles around PC shooters of its era, because it really felt like a continuation and advancement of that DOOM formula without losing the fundamentals of what makes a shooter game fun.
