RE1 on PS1 is honestly pretty rough, mainly because it's so unforgiving. The Dual Shock version is a little better but the DS port is honestly the best version of RE1 to play.
REmake is a different game. Asking to choose which one is like asking to pick between Super Mario World or The Sims.

My Gamecube gf was stolen. They broke in and took (almost) all of my physical collection, even my Dreamcast gf. I've been software ever since.

Fuck. Well, at least there are mods that can help fix that. I feel like maybe the lighting is a bit off as well, or maybe it’s just that the high fidelity models don’t really match the lower quality textures. Also I tried playing it at 30 FPS but it just looks so bad compared to 60. I guess there’s really no reason for me to try to gimp the experience.
