Having played RE0 and 7 back to back for my first time (0 on hard and 7 on normal because you have to unlock Madhouse first), I am absolutely shocked 7 is as loved as it is, when 0 was a much better paced game and just overall more inventive with some actually difficult puzzles (though I really don't understand the logic behind the animal lighter one and it's legitimately the only part of the game I'd say I didn't like trying to figure out). RE7 is literally and unironically for people too pussy to play Outlast 1 and 2 because "I'm murrican and need guns to feel badass and to make up for my tiny penis!"

Jack disappears way too soon and didn't really act like a stalker on my playthrough because I was too busy solving puzzles avoiding him (which to compliment Demake 2, Mr. X at least felt like when he had a bead on me, he was following me), then you get that embarrassing "YOU WANNA PLAY A GAME???" SAW shit. Margie was my favorite boss (but not segment because the shack and bugs were boring), but only because she was a clear rip from [REC], one of my favorite horror movies.

Also the ammo is way, way, WAY overtuned on Normal. (You can't play Madhouse until you unlock it which I'm not going to because the game sucks) By the end of the game I had over 70 shotgun shells and over 500+ MG rounds. Was the game made for retarded Japanese people who don't play FPS games generally? (Even though the game is pretty American feeling with the constant use of BITCH and the ugly female characters Mia and Zoe)

I can't believe such a mid, runs out of steam piece of shit, "saved da franchise", though I'm not surprised considering what killed the franchise in the first place (RE4)

And if I see one more retard in my fucking YouTube feed about how RE7 "saved franchise"...

If your issue with the game is the difficulty being not hard enough, why not just play it on the harder difficulty? Having to unlock it, doesn’t undermine it.

It's not entirely difficulty. The game falls off hard after the house, has the great Margie fight and then gives up/turns into a shitpile because they forgot how to rip off Outlast and they had no real inspiration.

Also I don't even replay good games that require you to unlock them like Yakuza games which are 30-40 hours long, so what chance does mid garbage like RE7 have?

Yes and I liked the Chris DLC, the mercenaries stuff, but you shouldn't need DLC to make a game long. Why didn't the game have a mercenaries mode that shipped with the game? Because it was rushed trash.

Yet even with the DLC, I still came in under 20 hours and the base game could reasonably be beaten in 6-8 hours (I was just looking for shit and making sure I was stocked which absolutely was not necessary)

I liked End of Zoe gameplay wise, but tonally it was a disaster for the "le heckin' scariest re game evar!"

A lot of the DLC though comes off as slapdash and poorly thought out. Imagine paying $60 for RE7 and then having to fork out $30-40 to get an actually complete game with features.

RE7 is good, but that's really all I can say. Maybe middle of the pack for favorite RE games for me.
I think I liked it more than RE0, but I haven't played RE0 in a long while.
Both games were one-and-done for me. Think there's only been like 3 RE games I've replayed for completion.

It really put into perspective how good Alien Isolation and Outlast were compared to the Japanese black goo of uncreativity and rip offs that is RE7. I mean 7 tries to do some almost metaphysical ghostly spirit stuff like the finale of Outlast, but it still doesn't get why it worked in that game as opposed to their weak sauce action game.

I mean for a game that isn't really about combat, Alien Isolation actually has enemy variety unlike RE7.

I knew this game was below average even on release, there was very little "honeymoon phase" crap as far as I was concerned. It's a heavily scripted bore, made as a tech demo for the RE engine and to see just how little effort is necessary for a game to make money these days.
