This hacking minigame is incredibly frustrating and unfair. They only give you four attempts to randomly guess the correct password from a pool of around twenty words. It's practically a game of pure chance, relying entirely on RNG, which makes the whole process feel utterly ridiculous and infuriating.

>>714961185Heh, that actually is pretty funny.
It's been a long time since I've played it, but looking at it now, it seems to be solvable every time (given that you can halve the possible options with each guess, and looking at word choices, it's been deliberately designed such that you CAN). Essentially you do a modified binary search, guessing words that halve the number of remaining possibilities. Usually binary search with 4 guesses would let you narrow it down from 16 possibilities (2^4), but you also get to utilize 3 guesses for confirming or denying specific words (because unlike in standard binary search, you know the list of options), so actually you actually have enough information to uniquely identify the password from among 19 options... and looking at it there are 19 plain-text words there.
For example, when you are guessing FARMING and get 4/7 correct, you know FARMING isn't the correct password, and that the remaining candidates are
ROAMING (MING correct)
GAINING (A correct, ING correct)
HEARING (A correct, ING correct)
MORNING (R correct, ING correct)
and a couple of other options.
MANKIND is a useless guess because it matches to FARMING in only 3 places (A, I, N) and was already ruled out.
I just find it funny how the higher difficulties are actually easier than the easy ones.
But nah, you get more than 4 tries and it literally gives you wordle style hints. If that's not enough then it's a skill issue.
>>714959914 (OP)The answer is Roaming you moron.

it's basically just Wordle, anon
>>714959914 (OP)I couldn't figure it out as a kid but then I looked up a guide and it's probably one of the most fun things in the game

>>714961991The only ones who start threads are autists.
>>714961458Honestly, it's a waste of time. The best way to play this mini-game is to click 3 words, if you don't get it, exit, re-enter, and hit 3 more words straight away. More often than not, it's faster to brute force it than to bother playing it properly.
It's a bad minigame, but it's whatever desu.
