The only confusing thing is the point of the priest class. I thought at first they can purify the lake since one sub-quest requires you to not take damage from the tainted water, but priests are fucking useless and can only purify those small temporary puddles.

It’s an interesting idea but I found the game too repetitive, especially if you plan on playing the levels multiple times in order to get all of the sub mission objectives.

It was fantastic. I felt too lazy to actually fight so I built towers nonstop and got pretty good, but that screwed me against certain bosses. And then there's NG+ with additional story. And while you can get all the achievements from beating the game a couple more times, it takes like 13 times to play it all again. It was good but I'm not autistic like that.
I would highly recommend people try the demo unless you're against denuvo which I respect. I think it's on game pass still which was fantastic for me,

it's a roguelike mode where you can get costumes. I didn't play it yet, but certainly will. they are also adding a new item to change the music to 8bit, just a fun little charming bonus

Play the demo to the end. The game gets a little more complex as you progress, but you'll get a good idea of whether it is for you based on that.
I personally like it but I wouldn't have recommended it at the original price. They reduced it since then.
