Remake > OG

I know you love it because of rose tinted glasses and the OG does do some things better, but the REmake is just a better package; has better gameplay and pacing, better weapons and systems in place.

The only real downside to the remake is accuracy at range with "accurate at range" weapons. Weapons switching, reloading and Leon's actions having lingering animations that straight up don't allow aiming until they are done but doesn't stop enemies winding up another attack.

It's not difficult to best gameplay that was the worst incarnation of an TP action shooter since it evolved past CCTV. I'd hardly have touched it if it weren't for mods and hacks (uninstalled after 30mins back when it was in v1.0). That, and the original had better atmosphere, more content, and that Downy tag-along was far less annoying than in the remake.

Gameplaywise it can be made better with mods. Specifically these two. As far as visuals is concerened I unironically think the game is distractingly ugly. Either the original on a CTR or on PC with the HD project look way better.

If the game followed Mikami's initial concept. You'd have to burn the enemies after having to down them. Like it works in Evil Within and Remake. I understand a bit the feeling why enemies are just meat costumes, and since it doesn't fully follow Mikami's ideas and becomes its own thing. They should have kept the old mechanics, but now with a kind of tiering system. With tankier enemies having those privileges. But in a way it works like God Hand Hard difficulty

The only things I enjoyed more about Remake 4 are that you can store weapons rather than having to sell them back if you want to try something new, and I enjoyed the characterization and time spent with Luis much more. The whole Don Quixote/Sancho Panza shit was pretty cute.
