Palworld, Spark the Jester, Fight Knight and things of that nature aren't sending a message on anything, I'm sure you can pull up Gone Home, Undertale, Lisa and say "yup, that's indie as a whole" in 2015, but now most devs have access to Godot, Unity, UE and other shit.
Risk of Rain, Isaac, Minecraft, Palworld, Terraria might vary in [genreslop] but they aren't making a statement and are also influential. If there's an oversaturation in Indie, I'd rank it H-games/VNs > walking sims > Gamemaker RPGs.
