The only thing it spat out is to turn on the notarget console command(~ key <> sv_cheats 1 <> notarget) while playing the game so none of the enemies shoot you. I could have sworn I saw a mod where no resonance cascade happens. I will keep looking.

Were these black and white checkered floors actually popular? I remember them all throughout the 90s in media and especially vidya like OP pic or The Sims 1, but I can't actually recall black and white checkered linoleum kitchens despite having been in the US in the 90s.s

Barney is friends with everyone and is really fucking good at fighting.
Otis is a bit dim but he compensates for that by carrying a hand cannon and befriending a solider, someone sent to kill him.

I used to play on a Black Mesa RP server as a security guard. I'd pretty much just stand at a guard station and ask for ID before letting them in. Everytime the server did a Cascade event I'd try to link up with other guards and scientists to escape the facility through some back way since the HECU would be at the main entrance. I always made my guy look like the guard from On A Rail with the mustache and everything. Shame there isn't a good BMRP server anymore that doesn't make you apply to their Discord and go through twenty hoops to be given a gun.

What the hell is it about the underground desert facility that's so comfortable? There's something really enjoyable about the setting and I don't really fully understand WHY it comes across as so aesthetic and nice.

Even Abiotic Factor kinda nailed the setting in an Australian version of the environment, even though that game is isn't really fun to play.

I like to think it's because it's a small city. Less like an actual city and more like an ant farm or diorama. You have the cool science lab, the cafeteria, the roads, the trams, the offices, the living quarters. It helps that everything is a little wacky in there so it feels less strange and more interesting. You wanna know more about it since it feels so massive.

It is absolutely this. Nowadays when you search something you get bombarded with shitty AI-generated articles that are just there to farm SEO. When I look up something I unironically add reddit at the end now. I have better odds of finding my answer in an old leddit thread than on whatever else the search engine returned

I want a mod that connects the maps from the original 3 games and good mods into one semi open network. Then have the resonance cascade happen in real time with the military and spec ops coming in a little later. Randomize enemy and pickup positions in all the maps and give the player the objective to escape in any which way he chooses. If you die you'd have to restart the whole thing, so it'd be a little bit like a roguelike.

I'm convinced it'd be great, the randomizer was so much fun.

sunk almost 60 hours into this game over the last 3-4 months - great game but the reactors and the smaller border world after felt really unbalanced so hopefully the 1,0 release smooths that out with all the proposed reworks coming at launch - it's one of the few crafting/survival games i really enjoyed beyond the first few hours or play sessions since not only do i love half-life and it does a good job at emulating some of that game's style but the fact that the facility had such variety and detail within it along with some basic overarching story kept me wanting to explore more and more.

Search engines started going into shit in the early 2010's, AI just gave much more powerful tools to these fuckers.
Also google has been handling it abysmally, right now they estimate the page quality by the amount of engagement and "quality", but in practical terms this becomes

>So you want to cook pasta, great! This is the guide for you
>But what is pasta? Let's jump into the history of our favorite dish
>Pasta has been a companion of humanity for centuries, but what is the best way of cooking pasta?
>Before we start cooking pasta, we need to find pasta somewhere. Where can we find pasta?
