Empty shadow of a great game

Youre 18 years too late. Playing GW in 2025 is like exploring the ruins of some great ancient civilization -- you can tell it was incredible in its time but now everyones gone and only dust nad ghosts are left.

Kino, one of the few games which story actually feels like embarking on a great adventure since you're constantly moving from outpost to outpost.
It's a shame there's so few players left. The anniversary event that happened a few months ago actually had a ton of people playing, I managed to get through the entire story with real players. There's probably gonna be a similar event for the Factions campaign too at some point, so you should look out for that.

Yes, you can add henchmen to your party in every outpost which are just NPCs you can play the whole game with.

Also in the second expansion (Nightfall) you unlock various heroes at certain points in the story which are just like henchmen but they're tied to your character, and you can fully customize their skills, builds and equipment.

Pretty dead game. Not much do other than Ziashen Quests. Paragon is unbelievably good compared to most other classes
When I get the urge to play, I’ll try Jade Quarry, but it rarely fires off and when it does, it’s all bots using the necro bomber build.

Despite being viewed as an MMO it's structured more like a single player RPG that happens to have online co-op. If you played GW2, you will have to abandon everything you know about that here. Due to years of power creep it is better if you try to play blind until you either beat the story of the campaign you're in, or hit a wall.

Yes. It's very hard to do a true solo, but you can add AI party members as the next best thing. Henchmen are available in all campaigns as party members with fixed stats, and you can customize heroes obtained through doing the stories in Nightfall and Eye of the North.

GW was amazing back in the day. Now it is only something I come back to every 5 years or so just to get that nostalgia hit

I know it's been a 20 years but there wasn't an expansion before Factions.
Prophecies is the base game, Factions came after and then Nightfall.
Eye of the North follows all 3.

I hate MMOs but I tried Guild Wars (like 2 years ago, mind you), and I liked it. It has actual story, it has interesting skill unlock system, and it's one of the only games where you can summon a metric fuckton of undead as a necromancer (even though you'll have to maintain your rotation constantly like a fucking spaz). I'll probably never beat it but I appreciated it for what it was.
