I can't imagine seriously preferring controller to keyboard and mouse for these games outside of maybe comfort. Morrowind is objectively better on keyboard and mouse than on console. Vanilla is also such a meme anyway, the fact is you can play vanilla on PC and have mods, on console you can only have vanilla. Granted some patches are needed for PC but it takes like 2 seconds to install them and they're very unintrisive to gameplay.

I really hope they port all their backwards compatibility work to PC in the future when they abandon hardware entirely.
I imagine the price of the console will get cheaper and cheaper as Xbox's situation grows more dire, so if you want to play the backwards compatible library I'd recommend looking for good deals either used or on Black Friday.

I do and i regularly go back to play games like splinter cell quadrilogy and I used to play GTA 4 on it annually but then I recently decided to go back to see if I could get the PC version working after I saw a YouTube video about how to GTA 4 runs on PC in 2025 and I'm happy to say GTA 4 on PC runs pretty great in 2025 with the community mods and the ability to use DXVK to make the framerate smooth. I also use lossless scaling on top of it to get a smooth 120 fps. The xbox 360 version will always be special to me though, it's the original definitive version of the game. Playing it today feels like you're living in a time capsule.

Nintendo just wanted to get more sales because the Switch wasn't slowing down. Switch 2 is already off to a great start but Moore's Law is dead meaning that there's no point in a Switch 3 until we get a real generational leap. No one's going to get a Switch 3 that's sharing games with the Switch 2.
