Gamers are the most forgiving consumer base alive. Still pre-order in a world of zero shortage and day of release digital platforms. Still act shocked launch days go poorly. Still pay more just to get early beta access or some skin.
Pay to gamble in games with packs/crates/loot boxes etc. Keep coming back to publishers who have done them dirty in the past. Sooooo yeah, nothing is going to happen with GTA6 but a massive amount of money earned for the publisher.

I know a YouTuber who makes videos about GTA. That's all he does.
During the first few years, he made between 1 and 3 videos a day, lasting several dozen minutes.
And now he's still uploading videos between 20 minutes and 1 hour 30 minutes daily.
