It plays pretty badly. The characters don't have enough moves to use in neutral so it's just "get up close and use your autocombo" and the main gimmick of having nine stocks means that matches drag on forever.
I guarantee people would like the game more if it had four stocks per character, but two out of three rounds. The flow would be much nicer despite being functionally the same.
