Blasphemous Thread
Just beat this game (got ending B anyway), what did I think of it and what will I think of the sequel?

English or Spanish dub?

Not OP but let me try this again since curious about the sequel too:
"So whats actually better enough about the gameplay? Haven't played blasphemous in ages and didnt like it that much when I did play it, but the ost indeed did always stick with me and i listened to the entire thing again a couple weeks ago when i needed background music it was great. But music is easy to disconnect from the experience of a game, and I value gameplay more in my videogames than...not gameplay (music)

I put off any interest in the second game because i figured not only would it not be that different from the first game (literally saw a playthrough fighting the same enemies from the first) But also because it has heavy heavy fast travel, and its almost a rule that any metroidvania with fast travel has bad exploration because they dont understand exploration.

I guess I could tolerate that if the gameplay is unique and engaging enough, but most importantly...isnt a one dimensional generic combat combat combat is all we know how to design in our metroidvania because we are creatively bankrupt, oh and throw in some basic platforming that will never meaningfully challenge you while at it."

Sequel has smoother gameplay. More actual platforming. Setting/atmosphere/music is just as great.

Go back and do New game +
The new penances and bosses are fun.

i doubt you'll like 2 more unless you like metroidvanias. They divided the abilities of the sword in the first game into two ish weapons then added a big fuck off flail thats the equivalent to playing through DS1 with a great sword
2's bosses were also 10x more annoying and made me quit. There's more movement overall and platforming but to me it feels more like a sidegrade rather than an upgrade. The only actual upgrade is that falling to your death or on spikes now only takes away health rather than outright killing you making the ladder parkour jank less furstrating. Otherwise it didn't feel much better imo
oh also the cutscenes are souless, and I don't use that word lightly like some anons

Not sure if the English dub is better because I never used it. Anything other than Spanish just wouldn't feel as right for a game like this.
