How do I git gud at this?
I'm getting filtered by the ninjas that attack your village after the Perry mission
I have beaten Nioh 1 and 2 fwiw

Anyone?

Keep trying until you get the timing for the counters.
That, or when countering jump; the counters connect better on the air.

I haven’t played any of these games but I kind of want to. my impressions are

How accurate

The parry/flash has a slightly tighter window than the parrying in Nioh. Don't panic and practice it as much as you can, especially for the red attacks.
There are, I think, two ninjas in that whole level that have more health and a different moveset, so be ready for them. One is by himself on a path, the other is in a clearing with some buildings with two other regular ninjas a dog, but you can do some stealth and take out everyone handily enough.
Try to only pull one enemy at a time, because the dogs can fuck up your timing when you're facing the ninjas.
At the end of the mission is a boss fight that you will probably struggle with a little, but once you beat it, you get into the open world and can really get into the flow of combat at your own pace.

Try stealth, you can skip the village before the boss fight and you can do few assassinations before.
Use your shurikens to break their combos
Take your time to learn countersparking timing, each weapon has different window so get used to your preferred weapon.
And finally, if you are really suffering just hold block and spark from it. It will give you enough time to get used to timing.

Get the quickdraw sword style. It has a large parry window and I managed to solo every mission because of it.

You can easily beat any enemy with spacing correctly and using skills.
Also don't forget to stealth kill as many as you can.

Try to block more often if you're not used to the parry timing yet. You can block the first hits of chain attacks and only parry the last one to fuck their shit up.
Or you can stealth kill most of the ninjas like other anons already pointed out.

Mostly wrong about Nioh, the grind thing only becomes relevant if you go beyond NG+ and want to go for specific builds. First two playthroughs are literally just using what you want or has the higher number. The combat has a lot of depth, and can be pretty stressful, but it also has ways to cheese (especially the first game).
Pretty much correct about RotR. The open world is pretty generic, but the combat (even though it has flaws) is quite good and makes it worthwhile IMO.

You can backpedal and most enemies will whiff their entire combo, so you can save your ki more effectively than blocking. Don't worry too much about countersparking beside unblockables until you unlock the ki restoration perk, then it becomes broken.
