>Dead Rising's clock (although I kinda like it, I see that it is objectively dumb to make players fail runs and replay the first missions).
>KCD making combat a genuine hell before reaching the second trainer actually explaining the mechanics.
>Fable's babby tier combat gameplay.
>Borderlands' obscenely aggravating and unskippable dialogue/cutscenes (in a game designed to be replayed 12+ times).
>Tyranny - heavy armor makes enemies avoid attacking you which defeats the entire purpose of tanky characters
>PoE2 filtering half of the audience and 90% of newcomers

Friction in game design often makes you like something more. Since you had to work more to get it done.
That's the case with me and SH4 for example. Lots of it is objectively bad or could have been done better, but I still like it for what it is.

Tank controls in survival horror games.
Making the player character vulnerable by making the input deliberately clunky is a very lazy way of trying to create tension.

Most Morrowind guild quests. They're not all bad but so many of them are just "Hey go grab me some shit from a shop in town" or "Find this guy in a cave and kill him. Directions? Ehhh, here's some that are kind of right if you already know where the cave is." Sometimes the context of the world saves it, like Trebonious giving you outlandish or retarded quests because he's a dumbass. But most of them feel like low level adventurer fetch quests. That can be fine for introductory quests, because low level guild members are basically whipping boys, but you can be a few reputation points away from Archmage and still running errands.

That's peak Morrowind though, jank-ass quest design that somehow works because of how immersive and weirdly charming the world is. You’re running around Ashlands getting cliff-racer’d every five feet while trying to find some ancient dunmer tomb using 3 sentences of "directions" given by a guy halfway stoned on skooma. It’s not good quest structure, but it feels like you earned it when you finally stumble into the right cave 45 minutes later. Still, I'll never forgive the Fighters Guild for making me whack some random guy over 10 drakes.

divine cybermancy, it's evident by their other games which have the same design problems but they weren't shilled by youtube troons so they flopped hard.

There should have been checkpoints near boss walls instead of wasting a minute running past enemies for the 20th time. Elden Ring did it right with the Stakes.
