What do you consider to be the greatest visual novel adventure games?
>>715038891 (OP)Clannad was good. Troonyneko was not.
>>715038891 (OP)not typemoon games for sure
>>715038891 (OP)Dies irae, by far
>>715040160>>715042094All decent but far from the best. Dies irae, Muramasa, and Subahibi are in their own tier
>>715038891 (OP)>greatest visual novelPic related and it's not even close
As someone who has played well over 100 visual novels, Umineko is still the best one. Yes, better than Muramasa, Steins;Gate, White Album 2, Muv-Luv Alternative, Utawarerumono, Tsukihime, Dies Irae, Little Busters, Fate/Stay Night, Clannad, Baldr Sky and even Rance. There are things that these other works excel at, but if you can get over the fact that Ryukishi's prose is mediocre you will find that he has genuinely genius ideas in his magnum opus, although they're not always presented in the best way. As an example, the concept of the Red Truth is already more profound in its implications than anything Muramasa desperately tries to show off in its spectacular presentation.
Not that any of this matters since this thread will soon devolve into shitflinging by the usual suspects.

>>715038891 (OP)Muv-Luv is the peak of everything
>>715044849It's pretty quiet here so feel free to talk more about Umineko
If they count as visual novels persona 3 and 4
>>715048010I probably won't. I know I sound like a pretentious, pompous ass when I say this but the novel is genuinely too smart for most readers.
>>715048404"If these crayon drawings count as paintings they're better than the Mona Lisa"
weird flex but ok

I watched Housing Complex C after Raging Loop since I was interested to check out Amphibian's other work but man did this anime seem like it got its budget gutted
Season of the Sakura, Divi-Dead or Nocturnal Illusions.

What should I read next:
ToHeart1
ToHeart2
Clannad
Little Busters
Utawarerumono
I haven't read much VNs, only Higurashi and MuvLuv
>>715052056Umineko is 100+ hours.
It's not just bad it doesn't even respect your time.
>>715038891 (OP)I genuinely can't think of a good "adventure" VN that i've read. most of what i read are either mysteries or SOL romance
>>715052056The second half of The House in Fata Morgana.
>>715054656It also doesn't respect the readers intelligence.

>>715055538I actually might agree with this, even if door 8 kinda won me back door 7 was unimaginable drek aside from whenever Aimee was onscreen
Between being a transphobic homophobic Stacy and fucking her fiance's brother I've never seen a character so perfectly designed to filter redditors

saya no uta is an overrated pile of shit. there, I said it
>>715038891 (OP)I've only read Tsukihime. I guess the danganronpa/phoenix wright don't count. I've gave Fate a try, but I've never went that far.
>>715038891 (OP)Tsukihime or Kagetsu
>>715044849>Ryukishi's prose is mediocreThe only Ryukishi work I've read is Higurashi but i think his blunt prose really works in its favor.
