Pound for pound probably the best Resident Evil game is the OG 2. It's the survival horror blueprint. Fun, creative, repayable. Just great all around. Personally I loved and played Nemesis the most.

Depends what you're playing RE for. If it's the atmosphere, resource management and puzzle based progression/exploration it's RE3 OG. If it's the combat and action RE4make easily beats the rest. But those 2 criteria are mutually exclusive. The RE games with good shooting have dogshit puzzles, exploration and resource management.

You missed 2, which is the best in the series. It was highly replayable and had a bunch of bonus content. Then there's 3 and CV, both of which were tragically messy due to the development switching focus away from CV (The originally planned 3) to polish up a spinoff game that became the 3 we got. They're both worth playing albeit, a little disappointing.

For me a big part of the beginning of the series was it's little changes you could make throughout the campaign. Say in RE1 having Barry save Jill from the crusher ceiling or not doing that and running into him upstairs to discuss how weird this mansion is. So I think RE3 is the best one because it has the most of those. But it's not my favorite one to replay. That's RE2. Shit they're all great even Veronica. I'd say Zero is the worst but even that is fun sometimes too.

Technically speaking, probably Village. People actually say it's too well made because speedrunners can't break it due to how its flags are set up. Skipping stuff just breaks the game because how many flags are required for each little thing you do in that game. Even RE7 had some level of sequence breaking, but Village has practically none.

first half of 4 sucks, second half is better, 5 is pretty good all the way through, 6 can drag on a bit but it changes scenery enough to be fun
